Naveed joined the CPUC in 2018, beginning his tenure as a Local Government and Community Liaison in the External Affairs Division, where he worked closely with local governments and community-based organizations throughout Northern California. Naveed also served as a project coordinator in the CPUC’s Energy Division, supporting statewide emergency reliability initiatives in response to rolling blackouts and the Governor’s emergency proclamation in 2021. He later joined the CPUC’s Communications Division as a senior analyst, leading the development of new customer service standards for internet and video service providers. Most recently, he served as a senior analyst in the CPUC’s Safety and Enforcement Division, contributing to the CPUC’s audit and investigation procedures to help ensure safe and reliable operation of electricity generation and battery energy storage systems. Prior to joining the CPUC, Naveed worked as a development fellow at GRID Alternatives, a non-profit solar installer based in Oakland, California. Naveed holds a Master of Science degree from the London School of Economics and a PhD in Public Affairs from the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University.
