Emergency Management
The mission of the Emergency Management Section is to promote and monitor emergency response standards and activities by regulated entities that support development of resilient systems to respond to natural and man-made disasters.
Purpose
The Emergency Management Section provides advisory support to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to promote the pre-incident preparedness by regulated entities.
EM Section’s distinct advisory function enhances emergency management as a part of the Security and Resilience Branch of the CPUC’s Safety Policy Division (SPD).
Mission
The Emergency Management Section’s mission is to advance emergency management practices and capability at Regulated Entities (RE) by:
- Working to coordinate and align activities between federal and state stakeholders in the Emergency Preparedness cycle – Planning, Response, Recovery and Mitigation.
- Develop RE specific policies and regulatory tools for consideration by the CPUC
- Providing subject matter expertise to support decision-making in active proceedings regarding the application of security policies and practices to include Access and Functional Needs.
