Physical and Cyber Security
The mission of the Physical and Cyber Security Section is to promote preparedness activities and regulated entities integrate risk into actions that assure a mature and effective physical and cyber security programs are maintained.
Purpose
The Physical and Cyber Security Section provides advisory support to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to promote the identification and mitigation of security threats of critical infrastructure.
PCS Section’s distinct advisory function enhances physical and cybersecurity as a part of the Security and Resilience Branch of the CPUC’s Safety Policy Division (SPD).
Mission
SC&G Section’s mission is to advance physical and cyber security at Regulated Entities (RE) by:
- Working to coordinate and align activities between federal and state stakeholders in the areas of Physical Security and Cyber Security.
- Develop RE specific policies, regulatory tools and metrics for consideration by the CPUC
- Providing subject matter expertise to support decision-making in active proceedings regarding the application of security policies and practices.
