Available DR Programs
Utility DR Programs
PG&E, SCE, and SDG&E each have a portfolio of DR programs that can suit different customers’ needs. While each utility offers a similar set of DR programs to its customers, the programs' details will differ from utility to utility. DR programs offered by utilities can vary by compensation structure, penalty structure, event lengths, notification, availability, and reason for dispatch. It is important to familiarize yourself with DR program terms before enrolling as different programs make better fits for different customers.
Third-Party DR Programs
DR services and programs can also be offered by independent commercial entities known as "Third-Party DR Providers" and "Aggregators". Third-Party DR Providers manage DR programs and services such as assisting retail customer participation in the wholesale energy market and providing strategies or technologies to reduce customer electric consumption during times of grid needs in exchange for compensation. Aggregators are entities that focus entirely on working with customers to reduce their electric consumption and paying incentives for their reductions. Aggregators typically have commercial arrangements with other entities that specialize in interfacing with the wholesale market.
