CPUC to Hold Public Forums on Cal-Am’s Requests
The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will hold public forums for customers to give their perspective and input to the CPUC about California-American Water Company (Cal-Am)’s requests, as follows:

Public Forum
The public forums, called Public Participation Hearings, will begin with a brief overview of Cal-Am’s request; then public comments will be heard. The CPUC Administrative Law Judge assigned to this proceeding is scheduled to write a Proposed Decision in the case for CPUC Commissioner Genevieve Shiroma’s consideration within a year.
The CPUC welcomes attendance and comment on Cal-Am’s requests at these public forums, as public comments will help the CPUC reach an informed decision.
Application (A.) 19-07-004
On July 1, 2019, Cal-Am submitted an application requesting CPUC approval to increase its revenue in each of its districts statewide by $25,999,900 (or 10.6 percent) in 2021; by $9,752,500 (or 3.59 percent) in 2022; and by $10,754,500 (or 3.82 percent) in 2023. According to Cal-Am, main contributors to the rate increase include new capital investments; increased labor expenses; increased depreciation expenses; increasing administrative and general expenses; and increased operations and maintenance expenses.

Application (A.) 19-07-005
On July 2, 2019, Cal-Am filed an application requesting authorization to impose a moratorium on new or expanded water service connections in the Laguna Seca Subarea of its Monterey County District. The scope of this proceeding focuses on, among other things, withdrawal limitations set by the Seaside Groundwater Basin Adjudication in Monterey County Superior Court Case Number M66343.
