Federal Resources

The U.S. Department of the Treasury (Treasury), the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) have published resources on good practices to follow before installing a solar system, and protecting yourself from scams. Complaints

If you are having difficulties with your solar installation or contractor, we recommend these resources.

  • For all complaints against solar contractors, whether licensed or unlicensed, please contact: Contractors State License Board
  • The Attorney General’s office addresses all types of complaints. Contact the AG Public Inquiry Unit: 
  • The trade association California Solar + Storage Association (CALSSA) is available to resolve complaints: CALSSA Complaint Investigation
  • For unwanted telemarking, file a claim with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC):  FTC Complaint Assistant
