2025 Limited Six County Application Opportunity
The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) is opening a limited opportunity to submit last mile Federal Funding Account applications in the six counties that did not receive awards in Round 1 of funding, which closed on February 20, 2025. The six counties are Calaveras, Contra Costa, Inyo, Monterey, Orange, and Trinity. More information is available on the Application Resources and 2025 Data and Public Map pages.
$1.1 Billion Awarded to Projects in 52 Counties in Round 1 of Awards
February 20, 2025 update on first round last mile Federal Funding Account awards. The first round awarded over $1 billion in broadband grants for projects spanning 52 counties across California. An additional $550 million is set to be allocated to the Last Mile program in the 2027–2028 state budget.
By the numbers:
- 113 broadband projects funded statewide.
- 2 million Californians benefiting from improved connectivity.
- 73 projects primarily serving disadvantaged areas.
- 7,000 miles of fiber under deployment in these projects.
